It is rare and distinct in approach for NRI Kannadiga Yaana Raj, daughter S Nagaraj of Mandya district. Yaana Raj a manager in IT Company in United states of America in the last 18 years has showed keen interest in direction department but after compulsion, strength of the story of G Murthy well known director and art director she agreed to act in the film ‘Vaishanvi’ that throws light on the society and intends to make some socially relevant changes.

Yaana Raj a good looking lady decked in saree was cynosure for her bob cut and good address at the first media meet of ‘Vaishnavi’. She has high satisfaction of working in a quality film and shown her distinct ability by tonsuring her head for the film purpose. This is for the purpose of doing final rites.

Yaana Raj in the posters with helmet on her head looked like Shradda Srinath of ‘U Turn’, when a story line was heard in the beginning that she comes from USA to do social service, it reminded Sudharani ‘Bharat Stores’ when we spoke to this brilliant lady we got confirmed that she is distinct in her approach. The tonsuring of her head made us to go the days of national award winning cinema ‘Phaniyamma’ of Prema Karanth.

Yaana Raj keeps coming to her home town quite often but the last time in her presence she expressed her interest with her father S Nagaraj that she wants to become a director. Through common friend Ramachandra, the contact was made to speak to G Murthy who is known for quality offbeat films. When the story was discussed with Yaana Raj and S Nagaraj they were in tears.

It is for this ‘Vaishnavi’ G Murthy recommended Yaana Raj for the title role. After dillydallying the acceptance was given on a condition that the film should be completed in 20 days. S Nagaraj evinced interest in production of the film. G Murthy took only 18 days for the shooting. A few portions were shot in USA – it is a shoot in natural locations fixing camera at one place remembers Yaana Raj.

After final shape of the film Yaana Raj feels happy and the film is now first screened at AKKA festival in Atlanta in the first week of September.
